In a recent video from carwow, the BMW M2 CS and Porsche GT4 RS meet on the standing quarter mile in a high-stakes drag race. The M2 CS has a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six with 530 hp and 650 Nm, driving the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic. It weighs 1,700 kg. The GT4 RS has a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with 500 hp and 450 Nm, sending power through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and weighing 1,415 kg.

On cold tires, both cars struggled for grip. The BMW lit up the rear wheels while the Porsche bogged slightly before recovering. Once the tires warmed, the Porsche’s launch control proved flawless, giving it the edge in repeated runs. The BMW showed raw pace but required perfect throttle control to avoid wheelspin.

In a best-of-five showdown, the final launch gave the Porsche the win, completing the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds to the BMW’s 11.6. Rolling races showed the Porsche’s traction and gear changes were superior, while the BMW’s turbo torque dominated mid-range acceleration. A brake test confirmed the Porsche’s precision, though the BMW remained competitive.

Ultimately, the GT4 RS won the drag race by a narrow margin, proving the combination of light weight, balance, and launch control outweighed the BMW’s greater power and torque.
