The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic pays homage to the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from the early 1970s with its distinctive and purposeful ducktail spoiler. Production is limited to 1,250 units worldwide, making it a coveted driver’s car.
The car features a 2.7 RS-style ducktail spoiler, Fuchs-style wheels, a double-bubble carbon-fiber roof, gold-color badging, and an early-style Porsche crest. Twin exterior stripes tie the design to Porsche’s racing background. Inside, the Sport Classic uses leather surfaces, houndstooth seat and door inserts, and green-accented gauges.
Built on the 911 Turbo S platform, the Sport Classic uses the wide-body layout and pairs it exclusively with a seven-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Its 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six produces 543 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, tuned specifically to complement the manual gearbox. Acceleration to 60 mph falls in the 3.7–3.9-second range, and top speed is about 195–196 mph.
AutoTopNL recently tested the 992 Sport Classic on one of the remaining unrestricted sections of the German Autobahn, where the car reached 317 km/h (197 mph) after several full-throttle runs.
