At the 2026 season opener of GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS, Porsche teams set the tone early at Sonoma Raceway. On a tight and technical 2.5 mile circuit, the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) showed strong pace, consistency, and reliability across the entire weekend.
In Pro-Am, the results were clear. Porsche teams swept the top six positions, led by Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent in the No. 32 GMG Racing entry. The pair set the pace early with a 1:34.023 lap in practice and carried that speed into the race, managing traffic and staying consistent over the full three-hour distance. Finishing second was the No. 31 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R of D. Musial Jr. and R. Yardley, while third place went to the No. 28 RS1 Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R driven by J. Martinez and J. Heylen, completing a dominant Pro-Am podium for the German manufacturer.
