FOR SALE: 2005 Porsche Carrera GT

Number 818 out of 1,270 units produced

The Porsche Carrera GT originated from an abandoned late-1990s Le Mans prototype project halted by FIA regulation changes. Porsche shifted its focus to developing a road car based on the racing platform. Competing with supercars like the Ferrari Enzo and Mercedes SLR, the Carrera GT proved itself in a tough market.

It featured a carbon-fiber chassis, racing suspension, ceramic brakes, and magnesium wheels. It’s 5.7-liter V-10 engine, weighing just 452 pounds, produced 605 horsepower. With a total weight of 2,755 pounds, the GT could hit 60 mph in under four seconds and 120 mph in ten, aided by ground effects and an active rear wing.

This 2005 example listed for sale on Bring a Trailer is number 818 out of 1,270 units produced over a four-year span. Originally delivered to Canada, it was later imported into the United States. The car is finished in black and comes with matching removable roof panels, sitting on 19″ front and 20″ rear center-lock alloy wheels.

Inside, it’s equipped with XT-sized racing-style seats featuring carbon-fiber and Kevlar shells upholstered in Dark Gray leather, which also covers the dashboard, center console, A-pillars, and door caps. Notable amenities include one-touch power windows, air conditioning, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, and a Porsche Online Pro CD stereo system. A high-mounted gear shifter is topped with a laminated beechwood knob, paying tribute to the balsa wood shifters used in the iconic Porsche 917 race cars.
