FOR SALE: 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A 1500S Speedster

This 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster is a pre-A 1500 Super that was completed on February 16, 1955, before being delivered to the US via Hoffman Motor Car Company of New York. The car underwent a multi-year refurbishment that began in 2011 and included rebuilding the replacement 1.5-liter Super flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle as well as performing metalwork, repainting the body in white, and installing a replacement red leatherette interior. Additional equipment includes four-wheel drum brakes, white 15″ Rudge wheels, a black soft top with matching side curtains and a tonneau cover, and fixed-back bucket seats with lap belts. This Pre-A Speedster was acquired by the current owner on BaT in April 2022 and is now offered on dealer consignment with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, copy of the Kardex, and an Arizona title.

The Reutter body was stripped and underwent metalwork before being refinished in its original shade of white by Deluxe Customs of Tempe, Arizona. Windshield chrome and other brightwork were refurbished by Victor Miles, and reassembly was completed by Bob Heintz in Santa Barbara, California. Both doors have been replaced, and a replacement black soft top is accompanied by matching side curtains and a tonneau cover. Exterior features include body-colored bumpers with polished overriders, gold badging, a blunt-nose hood handle, sealed-beam headlights under clear covers, and quadruple beehive taillights with CuLayer super-bright bulbs.

The body-colored 15″ Rudge knock-off steel wheels are mounted with Pirelli tires. Koni shocks are fitted at all four corners, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes that have been refurbished by Martin Willis of The Machine Shop in Colorado Springs. The front suspension C-links have been modified for 1.5 degrees of negative camber. The brakes were adjusted in preparation for sale.
