This 2012 Porsche Cayman R is a lightweight, performance-focused variant of the 987.2 platform, finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a black leather and Alcantara interior. Powered by a 3.4-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle, the Cayman R delivers a pure, driver-oriented experience, further enhanced by the optional Sport Chrono Package and a set of carbon-fiber-backed bucket seats. Factory rated at 330 horsepower, this example retains the Cayman R’s unique character, which includes weight-saving measures such as aluminum doors, reduced sound insulation, and a fixed rear wing – shedding approximately 120 pounds compared to the Cayman S.
Exterior features include red and silver side graphics, bi-xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights, yellow fog lights, quarter-panel air intakes, dual center exhaust outlets, and lightweight 19” silver wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Force tires. The passenger-side wheels were refinished in May 2024. Braking is handled by red four-piston Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors, and Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is standard.
Inside, the driver-focused cockpit features carbon-fiber full bucket seats trimmed in black leather and Alcantara with red seatbelts. Equipment includes the Sport Chrono Package, a Bose surround-sound system, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped SportDesign steering wheel. The minimalist instrument cluster is hoodless and displays an 8,000-rpm redline tachometer, a 190-mph speedometer, and additional auxiliary gauges.
This example includes a 16.9-gallon extended-range fuel tank and sends power exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Included with the sale are Porsche Production Specifications, a DME report, service records, manufacturer’s literature, spare and removed parts, and an art depiction of the car – offering a well-documented and rare example of one of Porsche’s most engaging modern mid-engine models.
