Called 986 internally, the first-generation Boxster was introduced for 1997 as Porsche’s long-awaited entry-level model. It was immediately well-received by driving enthusiasts; some even called it a better overall platform than the 911 thanks to its mid-mounted engine.

In hindsight, it’s one of the cars that saved Porsche from an uncertain fate. Production ended in 2004. Power comes from a 3.2-liter flat-6, rated at 258 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

This particular Boxster S is fitted with a 3.2-liter flat-6 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and it touts some nice factory equipment – including 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, and automatic climate control. It also comes with minimal modifications along with a clean, accident-free Carfax report – AND it’s offered with the added thrill of no reserve!
