Launched for 2013, and called 981 internally, the second-generation Cayman gained evolutionary design changes and a more user-friendly interior, again shared with the Boxster. The S model was immediately celebrated by enthusiasts for offering near-911 Carrera performance at a more approachable price point.
Production ended in 2016 with the introduction of the 718 Cayman for the 2017 model year. Power comes from a 3.4-liter flat-6, rated at 325 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
