This 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo Cup is said to be one of 11 examples sent to North America for the model year and was initially delivered to Al Holbert of Porsche Motorsport North America. It was later sold to and campaigned by Rick Hurst Racing in the 1987 SCCA Endurance Series sponsored by Escort, with notable drivers reportedly including Bob Strange, John O’Steen, and John Morton.
The seller acquired the car in 1990, subsequently using it in various Porsche Club of America and vintage racing events. Power is provided by a replacement turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four linked with a five-speed manual transaxle, and equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a fiberglass hood, a rear spoiler, 16″ magnesium wheels, Koni front struts, and billet lower control arms. On the inside, a Recaro driver’s seat is accompanied by an eight-point roll cage, a MOMO steering wheel, and a fire suppression system.
This 951 Turbo Cup was previously listed on BaT in January 2024 and is now offered with an assortment of removed factory components and spare Porsche-specification parts in addition to a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
