In 1960, Porsche representatives approached the Wendler coachbuilder, which had previously supplied bodies for the 550 and 718 models, with a proposal to develop a coupe version. The workshop used a 550 chassis (number ?) as a basis. Engine type 547, 1498 cc, 135 hp. In 1960, a single closed-body prototype was presented, with a curb weight of 650 kg. The exterior color was Reseda. This prototype served as the basis for two Porsche 718 GTR Coupé chassis (046, 047), for which Wendler Karosseriefabrik produced bodies for the 1962 season, making significant modifications compared to the prototype.
