1970 Porsche 914-6 GT

This 1970 Porsche 914-6 is said to have been initially ordered by Portuguese Porsche importer Messrs AS Motors Sociedade, though the distributor did not accept delivery and the car was subsequently retained by the factory and converted to FIA Group 4 “GT” specification.

Designated “Project 914/42″, chassis 1571 was first sold to West Coast driver Alan Johnson via Bozzani Porsche-Audi in California in June 1971. A change of hands in February 1972 brought the car to Oklahoma, where it remained through 2003. Following issuance of an FIA Historic technical passport, it was campaigned by the next owner in Europe at the 2004 and 2006 Le Mans Classic and Tour Auto. Finished in yellow with white roundels and various sponsor decals, the car features steel flared bodywork along with a fiberglass hood, front valance, bumpers, and decklid.

Power is provided by a 2.0-liter Type 901/26 flat-six outfitted with dual Weber 46 IDA 3C carburetors and a twin-plug ignition setup, while shifting is via a five-speed Type 914/02 transaxle with a limited-slip differential. It rides on staggered 15” Fuchs wheels in addition to Koni rear coilovers and 908-specification ventilated disc brakes. Inside, a pair of Scheel fixed-back bucket seats are trimmed in black upholstery and accompanied by a roll bar, a MOMO steering wheel, Heuer rally timers, and a 100-liter fuel tank.

Acquired by the current owner in 2023, this 914-6 GT is now offered on dealer consignment in Waltham, Massachusetts, as part of the Gruppe P, Part IX Collection with a 1971 sales invoice, service records, FIA documentation, articles in which the car was featured, and a clean Montana title.
