Our 2026 Porsche Macan Rating
Pros
Irrespective of ICE or electric power, the Macan lineup continues to impress with its exceptional driving dynamics. The gas-powered Macan, particularly in the S and GTS trims, offers quick acceleration and engaging handling, making it feel more like a sports sedan than a typical SUV. The electric variants maintain this performance and benefit from improved passenger space and a refined, high-quality cabin.
Cons
Despite its strengths, the Macan lineup has some drawbacks. The gas-powered models offer limited rear passenger and cargo space compared to competitors, and the infotainment system feels outdated. The electric variants, while technologically advanced, come with a significant price increase over the previous generation, and some drivers may find the EV motor lacks the traditional "Porsche" character.
Verdict
The 2026 Porsche Macan remains a top contender in the compact luxury SUV segment, offering a blend of performance, luxury, and practicality. While the gas-powered models continue to deliver a dynamic driving experience, the new electric variants represent a significant step forward in Porsche's electrification journey. Caters to a wide range of preferences for luxury SUV enthusiasts.
Overview
The 2026 Porsche Macan lineup is defined by its strategic dual-powertrain approach, uniquely offering both the traditional, beloved Gasoline (ICE) models and the all-new, technologically advanced Electric (EV) Macan simultaneously. The Macan’s core accomplishment is distilling the dynamic spirit of a Porsche sports car into a compact luxury SUV format, setting the benchmark for the segment with its precise steering, taut handling, and driver-centric focus. It’s what the Macan is great at: delivering a truly thrilling and engaging driving experience that is unmatched by competitors, all while maintaining the necessary practicality of five seats and a sizable cargo area (plus a "frunk" in the EV). The perfect buyer is a performance purist who needs a practical daily driver for the family or commute, but fundamentally refuses to compromise on the excitement and engineering quality of the Porsche badge.
The sheer number of choices in 2026 is unparalleled and allows buyers to perfectly align their purchase with their priorities, be it nostalgia, budget, or future-proofing. The Gasoline Macan (Base, S, GTS) appeals directly to the purist, offering the visceral sound and traditional feel of the V6 and I4 engines—though this is set to be the final model year for the gas variant. The Electric Macan (Macan 4, 4S, GTS, Turbo) represents the future, built on the advanced 800-volt PPE platform. This EV version is the choice for the tech-forward buyer who wants instant torque, ultra-fast DC charging (up to 270 kW), and a more sophisticated chassis with optional rear-axle steering and air suspension. Power outputs range from a spirited 261 horsepower in the base gas model to a blistering 630 horsepower in the electric Macan Turbo, offering a step for virtually every performance appetite.
This dual-path strategy means buyers face a clear choice in 2026: embrace the familiar, rewarding engine experience of the outgoing Macan GTS (ICE) with its classic V6, or leap into the future with the quicker, quieter, and highly connected Macan GTS Electric built on a brand-new platform. The abundance of choice, from the entry-level four-cylinder Macan to the high-tech, 3.1-second 0-60 mph Macan Turbo Electric, ensures that whether a buyer is seeking the lowest starting price, the most cutting-edge tech, or simply a specific engine note, the Macan lineup has a perfectly tailored solution that maintains Porsche's signature sports car DNA.
“Still a hugely capable, desirable package that’s just starting to show its age in places”

What's New
The 2026 Porsche Macan lineup is characterized by a dramatic transition, marking the final year for the beloved Gasoline (ICE) Macan in most markets while aggressively expanding the all-new Electric (EV) Macan family. The current gasoline Macan received its last major performance upgrade in 2022, which boosted the base model to 261 horsepower and saw the Macan S and GTS models receive significant power hikes to 375 hp and 434 hp, respectively. These final models continue to offer the traditional, engaging handling and V6 engine note that enthusiasts adore. However, the focus for 2026 is squarely on the second-generation, fully electric models, which are built on the state-of-the-art 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, ensuring maximum charging speed and cutting-edge digital integration.
The most significant new model introduction for 2026 is the Macan GTS Electric, which slots perfectly between the 4S and the range-topping Turbo. This new performance variant delivers a potent 563 horsepower (with overboost) and a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, giving buyers an athletic option that prioritizes handling and driver feedback. The GTS Electric includes unique performance hardware such as an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, bespoke Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) tuning, and a lower center of gravity than any other Macan. Visually, it distinguishes itself with characteristic GTS black accents, unique rocker panels, and a standard SportDesign package, ensuring it looks as aggressive as it performs.
Beyond the new model, the entire Macan Electric lineup receives substantial technological and convenience enhancements for 2026. Practicality is boosted significantly with the towing capacity for the AWD electric models increasing to a robust 5,500 pounds. Digital convenience takes a leap forward with the introduction of the Porsche Digital Key, allowing owners to use their iPhone, Apple Watch, or compatible Android device to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle, with the ability to share keys with up to seven other users. Finally, driver assistance is enhanced by new parking features, including Trained Parking, which can memorize and automatically execute routine maneuvers like parking in a home garage, and the Transparent Hood function, which uses cameras to give the driver a virtual view of the ground in front of the vehicle.

Current Porsche Macan Lineup
The current gas-powered Macan lineup is pretty standard fare, with all the familiar variants accounted for in the gas-powered Macans, while the all-new Macan Electric range follows similar naming conversions that we all basically understand. The Porsche Macan EV is, first of all, an entirely different vehicle than the gas-powered Macan. It relies on the same formula, though: It's a luxury SUV with an emphasis on performance. Porsche added two new trims for the 2025 Macan, giving you between 335 hp on the base Macan Electric and topping out at 576 hp for the Macan Turbo Electric. For 2026, they added the Macan GTS Electric, which sits between the two. We dig the electric Macan's performance capabilities but are less enthused with its high price and lack of standard features. The Macan ICE models include the base Macan, the Macan T, Macan S and top of the range Macan GTS.

Combined MPG: 91 MPGe
The Details
The all-new Macan GTS Electric for 2026 is the answer for the Porsche buyer who views the Macan not just as a practical SUV, but as a genuine, driver-focused sports car. Historically, the GTS designation represents the "sweet spot" in the Porsche lineup—the most driver-focused option that prioritizes handling and feel over outright power (which is reserved for the Turbo). This model is engineered to deliver a highly engaging and confidence-inspiring drive, featuring a unique, sport-tuned air suspension that sits $10 \text{mm}$ lower than the standard Macan Electric, along with a rear-biased torque split (48% front, 52% rear) for an agile, rear-wheel-drive feel. The ideal buyer is the enthusiast who regularly seeks out winding roads and spirited drives, appreciates exclusivity, and believes a compact SUV should still corner with the precision of a 911.
Under the hood, the Macan GTS Electric borrows the powerful rear motor from the range-topping Turbo model, giving it an official output of 509 horsepower in normal driving, which surges to 563 horsepower (704 lb-ft of torque) when using Launch Control. This power is good for a quick 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.6 seconds. However, the real engineering is in the chassis hardware included as standard: an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential (PTV Plus) works to maximize traction and sharpen cornering, and the Sport Chrono Package includes features like the "Track Endurance Mode" which aggressively pre-cools the 100 kWh battery for repeatable high-performance driving. This attention to thermal management ensures the Macan GTS delivers its promised performance run after run, a critical factor for the demanding EV driver.
Visually, the GTS is instantly identifiable by its signature blacked-out aesthetic, which applies the characteristic high-gloss black finish to the SportDesign exterior package.

Engine: 2 x electric motors
Power: 630 hp
Torque: 833 lb-ft

The all-wheel-drive setup is here, mated with more power – up to 630 horsepower when using Overboost Power with Launch Control and up to 833 pound-feet of torque.
Zoom from zero to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 161 mph in this model. Its sporty design matches that of the Macan 4S with some variation. For one, it takes a dip in rear cargo volume, offering 16.9 cubic feet of available space. However, the model makes up for these small sacrifices with its incredible performance.
Here are just a few of the perks you get only with the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric:
Eighteen-way adaptive sports seats
