2019 Porsche 935 “Piper Green” Offered by Broad Arrow Auctions

Number 75 of 77 Porsche 935s built

The 2019 Porsche 935 is based on the popular 935/78 LM race car from the 1970s which was, given the name ‘Moby Dick’ due to its exterior shape and design – most notably the ‘whale tail’. A modern tribute based on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, it was unveiled at the 2018 Rennsport Reunion.

The new 935 featured a 700-hp, twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, capable of 211 mph. The carbon fiber body incorporated design cues from legendary Porsches, including the 917, 908, and 911 RSR. Limited to just 77 units, the new 935 paid homage to Porsche’s motorsport heritage, complete with optional liveries celebrating its greatest racing triumphs.

This example, number 75 of 77 Porsche 935s built, was originally finished by the factory in Agate Grey Metallic before being wrapped in a custom “Piper Green” livery—a vivid green with white accents inspired by British racer David Piper.

Known for his distinctive green-and-white race cars, Piper competed in top-level events throughout the 1960s and 1970s, fielding both Porsches and Ferraris, including his own 917 K (chassis 917-010) in the same color scheme.

Accompanied by its factory tool set, this car—number 75 of 77—offers a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a striking modern tribute to Porsche’s racing icons once it goes under the hammer at Broad Arrow Auctions this Saturday.
