1970 Porsche 911 ST-R

Normal—> S —> RS —> ST —> ST-R?

I think Magnus Walker said it best “Dirt don’t slow you down”.

Often times “Outlaw” builds are dependent on taste, money, trends etc. However, every once and while there’s a build that just works. This particular car started life as a 1970 Porsche 911T and was built into a ST-R. It has the outlaw appeal of a Magnus Walker build with the bespoke craftsmanship and attention to detail of a Singer. Its neither a tribute or an outlaw…the modifications performed were inspired by but not exclusively copied from the 911ST and 911R. These modifications culminate into a well crafted 911 that can be enjoyed on the track, at cars and coffee or simply driven everyday.

During the build/restoration the car was taken down to bare metal, minimal rust was repaired and steel 930 rear fenders were expertly graft into place as well as fiberglass fronts. The fuel tank has been customized along with the hood to have a center hood fill point including the “dog bowl” dish to keep water out of the trunk. After the body was completed the car was painted Dolphin grey.

A 1984 3.2 liter Carrera engine was sourced and built out to 3.4 liters by Porsche engine specialist Allen Victor. Allen has over 35 years specializing almost exclusively with air cooled Porsches. The engine rebuild was completed 5 years ago and has been mated to a later 915 transmission that is in excellent mechanical condition. The engine is estimated to have around 275hp.The brakes were taken from an early 930, rebuilt and installed. The suspension got the same treatment with new Bilstein shocks in the rear and Koni’s in the front. Most recently the owner added a set of wheels from Group 4 that have been powder coated dark grey and wrapped with Avon DOT sticky tires that are essentially brand new (275/55R15 in the rear and 225/60R15 in the front). The wheel/tires coupled with the fender flares give the car real presence. Other exterior touches include, “R” style horn grill delete and turn signals front/rear. New H4 HID headlights were installed as well as an oil cooling system from a 930 Turbo, new bumpers, modified wiring, switches, belts, bulbs etc. The previous owner spared no expense and everything on the car is of high quality and professionally installed.

What stands out most in the interior is the AutoPower Industries 4-point roll bar made with 1.750 x .120 DOM mild steel tube and powder coated black. The seats are from GTS Classics and are upholstered in black leather/alcantara with quilted stitching. All the interior trim including; dash top, door panel trim and knee pad have been covered in black alcantara and look fantastic. All trim has been nickel plated to give it the Singer look and feel as well as a handmade 917 replica birch shift knob. And finally a new $800 Zuffenhausen steering wheel to round out the tastefully modified interior.

Asking $115,000
